当選してから大変お世話になったクレーメンス・フォン・ゲッツェ駐日ドイツ大使が離任されるとのことで、送別表敬訪問に伺いました。

大使とご夫人とはお会いするといつも話題が尽きず、楽しくお話しさせていただいていました。この日も日独・日欧パートナーシップのあり方、安全保障、人権外交などにつき大使と最後に1時間に渡り対談。後任の方とも連携を進めていく旨、お約束させていただきました。

人権、市民社会、民主主義などが守られるスペースが国際的に縮小し、法に基づく国際秩序も乱れる中、アジアと欧州で最も経済力の高い民主主義である日本とドイツのパートナーシップはかつてなく重要です。

ドイツ大使館主催のレセプションなどでは「ケーキだけは必ず全種類食べてね！」といつもお茶目なおもてなしをしてくださった大使。本当に寂しくなります。次の赴任地でもお元気で、また一緒にお仕事ができますように🇯🇵🇩🇪ありがとうございました。
